Community & Sponsors

Our Community

The outrigger canoe has been central to the development of Hawaiian culture. So important was the canoe that the building of a new canoe was a significant event involving most of the members of a village: priests, craftsmen, laborers, helpers.

Our club is much the same.  We have an incredible community of members united by their passion for paddling who support the sport, the club, one another, and our local community.

In addition, those that support us, from the City of Fremantle, to our financial and non-financial sponsors are all part of our broader community and their support unites us all.

We are a reasonably social club, and at Thursday night BBQs during the summer we watch the sun set over our special part of the Swan River.  We also get out into our community to volunteer at Bunnings’ family days and the annual City of Fremantle George Street Festival.

Through the generosity of our sponsors and members, Hurricane OCC proudly supports the Children’s Cancer Institute, the only independent medical research institute in Australia wholly dedicated to curing childhood cancer.

Our Sponsors

As a small but growing club, we are extremely grateful for the support provided by our incredible sponsors who acknowledge that small sporting clubs are play an important role in the community. Their support helps in so many ways, from maintaining our club, to enabling us to hold events, to helping us achieve our competitive goals. Many of those below have supported us for years. Thank you!

Fundraising

We fundraising regularly to help pay for new equipment and to help our junior members compete nationally. We run regular raffles, cake sales and two Bunnings Sausage Sizzles each year.  Money goes toward maintaining our facilities and equipment and helping members, particularly Juniors compete.
