December Newsletter 2025

What a year!

It’s incredible how fast this season has gone, and once again Hurricane has enjoyed another very successful year. Club life has never been busier, and we’ve seen fantastic growth across all areas. This momentum comes from the friendly, welcoming atmosphere that defines our club. When you walk through those doors under the Hurricane sign, the problems of the day seem to fall away — that’s the magic of this place.

So many good people make Hurricane what it is today. From Pete, who is always there doing the odd jobs that keep our club looking and running at its best, to our amazing coaching group, all working toward the same goal: helping every paddler become a better paddler.

A huge thank you goes to Kai Hoffmann, who has worked tirelessly in the corporate sponsorship space as we prepare for the 2026 season and our Hamilton Island campaign. Your efforts behind the scenes make a massive difference.

Our committee continues to work hard to make the club better in every way. A special mention to Maegan for managing the website and putting up with my last-minute requests — thank you for everything you do.

Upcoming Events

We have our Christmas Paddle on Thursday the 18th, followed by our BBQ party, where we’ll be presenting our Service to Club Awards and announcing our next Life Member. Please make the effort to come down — it’s always a great evening of fun, celebration, and Hurricane spirit.

Our final Hurricane Hustle of the year is on the 20th at 6am, and we’d love to see as many paddlers as possible have a go at this fun OC1 challenge.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe New Year. Bring on the 2026 season — let’s go after those wins again!
